"John Morgan Scholarship"

This scholarship was created by Pepper Morgan-Nilmeyer in November 2000 the year that her father John Morgan passed away due to complications from cancer.  John was an avid team penner and one of the founding members of PPSA.  He couldn't wait for our valley to have a penning club of it's own for families that couldn't travel to come out and have FUN.    When John passed away she thought that this scholarship would be a great tribute to her Father, Penning Teacher/Partner and her favorite "Holder".   It was a way that young penners could have a chance to further their educations while enjoying this great horse sport.

The Criteria for this scholarship is: being an active penning member/participant;  able to work three pennings  in the season in some form, (ie. gate, sign ups, setup and teardown, cattle numbering-settling-or changing herds);  be a college bound or current college student;  and must apply in writing with an intent letter to the Board of Directors on why they think they should receive this scholarship.
The Board of Directors must be informed of your intent by the November Penning to qualify for that year..

So.....  If you think you might be a candidate for this scholarship get writing.
